Capital City Roofing founder Brad Strawbridge recently joined Jason Lyle on the Sacred Grit Podcast to share the story behind the company - where it came from, why it exists, and where it's headed. If you've ever wondered what makes CCR different from every other roofing company, this is it.

Listen to the full episode here.

A Company Built on Second Chances

Capital City Roofing wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built on a foundation of faith, grit, and a second chance.

Before founding CCR, Brad Strawbridge spent 11 years at Lowe's - starting as a delivery truck driver and working his way up to district manager overseeing in-home installation services across a major territory. During COVID, he identified roofing as one of the fastest-growing segments in home services, with double-digit year-over-year growth. He spent time scaling a commercial roofing company, then launched Capital City Roofing in 2024.

But the real story starts earlier. Brad is open about the fact that he was once homeless, living out of his truck at 25 years old. A Christ-centered recovery program called Haven House Mission in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida gave him a second chance - and that experience shaped every decision he's made since. He's a licensed pastor who believes his calling is to serve people through business, not just from behind a pulpit.

That philosophy drives everything at CCR. We don't just put roofs on buildings. We build a company where people get real opportunities, customers get honest advice, and a portion of everything we earn goes toward feeding children who need it most.

What We Do

If it has a roof, we handle it.

Residential roofing - repairs, replacements, storm damage, full re-roofs. We work with homeowners to make the process simple and stress-free.

Multifamily roofing - condos, HOAs, apartment communities. We understand the complexity of multi-stakeholder projects and deliver clear communication from inspection through completion.

Commercial roofing - flat roofs, TPO, modified bitumen, metal. Shopping centers, office buildings, high-rises. We carry the experience and crew depth to handle large-scale projects on schedule.

Every engagement starts with an honest consultation. Even if you don't hire us, we'll give you a second opinion you can trust. That's not a sales line - it's how we operate. We'd rather be your advisor than pressure you into a contract.

The Licensing Model - The Chick-fil-A of Roofing

Here's where CCR is doing something no one else in roofing is doing.

We're scaling through a licensing and shared services model that empowers contractors to operate as Capital City Roofing while we handle the back office: phone answering, appointment booking, material ordering, warranty filing, bookkeeping, and compliance. Our partners keep their small business identity while getting enterprise-level support.

Think of it like the Chick-fil-A model - we set our partners up for success by removing the administrative burden that buries most small roofing companies. You focus on relationships, sales, and delivering great work. We handle the rest.

We've already signed licensed partners in Nashville, Tennessee and Charleston, South Carolina, with Greenville, SC and Austin, Texas in the pipeline - all through word of mouth with values-aligned partners.

If you're a roofing contractor interested in this model, we'd love to talk. Visit capitalcityroofing.net to learn more.

The Technology Behind It

We don't just talk about efficiency - we built the tools to deliver it.

Our sister company, BuilderLync (builderlync.com), is the proprietary CRM and operating system that powers Capital City Roofing. It's built with responsible AI and automation woven into the workflows, making everything from lead management to job completion faster and more consistent.

BuilderLync isn't exclusive to CCR. If you're a contractor looking for a CRM that was built by roofers, for roofers - check it out at builderlync.com.

Feeding the Future Project

Revenue funds the mission. That's how we see it.

We founded the Feeding the Future Project (feedingthefutureproject.org) with a goal of feeding one million children in ten years. This nonprofit is the real reason Capital City Roofing exists. Every roof we install moves us closer to that number.

When you hire CCR, you're not just getting a quality roof - you're helping feed a child. That's the kind of impact we want every customer and partner to feel.
