Podcast Feature: How Smart Contractors Use AI to Close More Deals (Without More Leads)
Brad Strawbridge joins The AI & Marketing Show for Home Service Pros to reveal the 10-agent AI system behind Capital City Roofing - including the setup that won a $200K commercial job while competitors were still preparing their bids.
Capital City Roofing founder and CEO Brad Strawbridge joined The AI & Marketing Show for Home Service Pros to break down exactly how to use AI to close more deals - without spending another dollar on lead generation.
Most contractors assume growth requires more leads. Brad saw a different problem: leads were already coming in, but revenue was rotting on the vine. Speed to lead was broken, follow-up was inconsistent, and tribal knowledge locked inside people's heads meant the business couldn't scale past whoever was running it that day.
The 10-Agent AI System
Brad has built a 10-agent AI orchestration layer that handles everything except going to the customer's house and selling the roof. Here's how it works: an incoming lead triggers the system. The agents book the appointment, put it on the rep's calendar, send reminders, order the roof measurement report, attach it to the proposal template, generate the full proposal, and send a task to a human: "Ready for review." From there, agents handle the entire follow-up sequence - emails, texts, and prompts to the sales rep to call at specific intervals.
"It does everything that doesn't require a human. And we do it responsibly and tastefully."
The $200,000 Proof Point
The clearest demonstration came when Capital City Roofing licensing partner Blake Grissom had a shot at a 10-to-11 building townhome HOA community in Charleston. Brad told him to fly the drone, collect the data, and drop everything into a shared folder. The system produced a thorough capital improvement plan, annotated photographic report, and presentation deck - instantly.
"The HOA board said they had never seen something so thorough, so beautifully written, so fast, ever. He won the job. They didn't even entertain anything else."
The job was worth $200,000. It was won on speed, accuracy, and professionalism - all delivered by the system Brad built.
AI Transparency and the Human Touch
Brad is direct about where AI belongs: during business hours, his intake team answers phones. After hours and during overflow, AI agents step in - but with full transparency. The AI always identifies itself as "an AI roofing expert formally trained by Capital City Roofing" and offers to connect the caller with a human immediately.
The Tech Stack
Brad uses Claude as his primary AI model, connected to Google Drive and NotebookLM. Every SOP, pricing detail, service description, and customer script lives in NotebookLM as a structured knowledge base. When agents prompt against that system, they pull from Capital City Roofing's actual data - no hallucinations, consistent output.
